How much severance are you owed?

From salary and dates: proportional cesantías + interest, prima, pending vacation, and the article 64 indemnification if you were dismissed without just cause. 2026 minimum wage and transport allowance built in.

How the estimate works (reference)

  • Cesantías: base salary × days this year / 360 (+ transport allowance if ≤ 2 SMMLV).
  • Intereses: 12% annual on cesantías, proportional.
  • Prima: base × days this semester / 360.
  • Vacaciones: 15 days/year accrued minus days taken, on base salary.
  • Indemnification: CST art. 64 (indefinite contracts, dismissal without just cause).

Questions

What does a Colombian severance settlement include?

Proportional cesantías for the current year + 12% annual interest, proportional prima for the semester, accrued untaken vacation (15 days/year), and — if dismissed without just cause on an indefinite contract — the CST article 64 indemnification.

How much is dismissal-without-cause severance?

On an indefinite contract earning under 10 SMMLV: 30 days of salary for the first year plus 20 days per additional year (proportional). At 10+ SMMLV: 20 and 15 days respectively (CST art. 64).

Does the transport allowance count toward severance?

Yes for cesantías and prima when you earn up to 2 minimum wages (2026 allowance: $249,095). It does not count toward vacation or the indemnification.
