Frequently asked questions
How much does a move cost in Colombia in 2026?
Within the same city, a 2-bedroom apartment costs about COP 250,000 – COP 450,000 with an independent truck and helpers, or COP 700,000 – COP 1,200,000 with a formal moving company (packing materials, insurance, invoice). Floors by stairs, packing, weekends and special items add to it.
How much is a move from Bogotá to Medellín?
For a 2-bedroom apartment, about COP 900,000 – COP 1,800,000 on a shared truck (3–5 days) and COP 1,930,000 – COP 3,000,000 on a dedicated truck (1–2 days). The distance is about 415 km.
Why do prices vary so much?
There is no official tariff. The biggest difference is the service level: an independent truck with helpers versus a company that packs, insures and invoices. Volume, floors without an elevator, walking distance to the truck, the date and the route do the rest.
Shared or dedicated truck for an intercity move?
A shared truck (carga compartida) is cheaper but takes several days and your things travel with other customers’ loads. A dedicated truck (expreso) costs roughly double and usually arrives in one or two days.
How do I avoid surprises with a mover?
Ask for a written quote based on an inventory or a video call, confirm floors, elevator and parking at both ends, ask what happens if something breaks (insurance), and pay the balance on delivery. Get at least three quotes.
Where these prices come from
There is no official moving tariff in Colombia. The ranges combine public 2026 price lists from these sources; where they disagree, the range covers both. Reviewed 2026-09-24.
