Shopping at IKEA Colombia: Furnishing Your Apartment in Bogotá, Cali, and Medellín
IKEA does operate in Colombia, in three malls. Here is how store visits, delivery, click and collect, assembly and returns really work, and when to buy used instead.

You signed the lease on an empty apartment, the landlord handed you keys and a smile, and now you are sitting on the floor with a laptop. Good news: the question is not "is there an IKEA in Colombia?" There is, in three malls. The real decisions are whether to go to the store, order delivery, or skip the flat-pack and buy used. (Some older furnishing guides still claim IKEA is absent. That is out of date.)
Quick answer: IKEA has shops in Bogotá, Cali and Envigado (the Medellín-area store). Online prices match the shelf, delivery and assembly are extra and quoted at checkout, delivery stops at your door (not inside, and not above the fifth floor without an elevator), and the 120-day return is void once you assemble the item.
The three stores, with addresses and hours
Per IKEA Colombia's store pages (ikea.com/co, checked October 2026):
- Bogotá: IKEA NQS, inside Centro comercial Mallplaza NQS, Avenida Carrera 30 #19, Los Mártires, Bogotá D.C. The entrance is on floor 3 of the mall. It is not a store called "Mallplaza Bogotá."
- Cali: inside Centro comercial Mallplaza Cali, Calle 3 #5-253, Cali, Valle del Cauca. Entrance on floor 1 (P1).
- Medellín area: inside Centro comercial Viva Envigado, Carrera 48 #32 B Sur 139, torre 1, local 235, entrance on floor 2. IKEA labels it Medellín, but it is in Envigado, not El Poblado or downtown. If you are weighing that suburb, our Envigado monthly budget breakdown helps.
Hours as published: Bogotá, Monday to Saturday 10:00–21:00, Sunday and holidays 10:00–20:00. Envigado uses the same hours. Cali's store page says Sunday to Thursday and holidays 10:00–20:00, Friday and Saturday 10:00–21:00. Annoyingly, IKEA's delivery page lists different Cali click-and-collect hours, so confirm on the day you go, especially around holidays. Customer-service WhatsApp for all three stores is +57 311 2096684, Monday to Saturday 09:00–19:00.
Getting there without a car
Bogotá: TransMilenio station Paloquemao (north exit), or SITP buses along Calle 19 and Avenida Carrera 30. Drivers enter the mall parking from Calle 21; the mall sets the fee. Cali: MIO station Unidad Deportiva, south exit, with parking entered from Calle 3. Envigado: the Metro Envigado station, plus the bus routes printed on the store page. Drivers enter the parking tower from Avenida Simón Bolívar, then Carrera 49, and that page says the mall gives free parking with an IKEA purchase. I would not assume the same perk in Bogotá or Cali.
Honest downside: a taxi or app ride home with flat-pack cartons is a gamble. A bookcase box can be long and heavy, so measure your car or plan delivery before buying.
In the store versus online
IKEA's customer-service page says ikea.com.co prices match the store. The price tag tells you whether you can grab the item yourself from the shelf or must order it with a coworker for delivery. Some items can leave the same day; others are delivery-only, and IKEA publishes a list of products not available for immediate takeaway. The Envigado page mentions a large-item area, but do not assume every sofa in every store can ride home with you.
You cannot mix methods: one order is either home delivery or store pickup.
Payment: in store, cash, debit and credit work. Online, IKEA lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners credit cards issued in Colombia or abroad, Visa or Mastercard debit with a CVV, and PSE (which needs a Colombian bank). A card being accepted does not mean your issuer will offer Colombian cuotas, and the 12-installment kitchen promo ended on 30 September 2026. Our foreign credit card and cuotas guide explains the traps.
Delivery, click-and-collect and what "to your apartment" means
There is no single national delivery fee. IKEA says the quote depends on destination city, size, volume, product type and number of packages, and it appears in your cart before you pay. Ignore old promo rates; they were campaigns, not tariffs.
Click-and-collect at IKEA's listed pickup points has no charge. After the ready email you have 10 days and must bring an ID. Besides the three stores, IKEA's delivery page lists some Falabella counters, such as Falabella Fontanar at Centro Comercial Fontanar, Km 2.5 vía Chía–Cajicá, Chía; check that page for hours before you drive out.
Rules that catch newcomers:
- Delivery does not include assembly, installation, or moving goods around inside the apartment.
- Without an elevator, upper-floor delivery goes only up to the fifth floor, and only when technically safe. With an elevator, only if size and weight fit.
- An adult must receive the order. Terms say deliveries run 07:00–21:00 unless told otherwise, while the customer-service page says 08:00–21:00. Trust the window shown at checkout. There is no call-ahead; you track the order.
- After payment you cannot change the date or address from your account. A missed delivery gets one more attempt; after two failures IKEA cancels and refunds the same payment method.
- Delivery dates are either picked by you or a date range; next-day Bogotá happens only on special occasions. Do not plan around it.
Scam note: payment happens in the IKEA checkout or at the till. Anyone asking for a transfer "to release the truck" is not following IKEA's process. Use the published WhatsApp for changes.

Assembly, and the real last mile
IKEA assembly starts from COP 45,990 for a single visit. That is a floor, not the price of a sofa or wardrobe: the charge follows each product's assembly effort. Coverage names the urban perimeter of Bogotá, Chía, La Calera and Cajicá; Cali, Jamundí, Yumbo and Palmira; and Medellín, Envigado, Sabaneta, Itagüí, Bello, Rionegro, El Retiro and La Estrella. Elsewhere, ask on WhatsApp. Service runs Monday to Friday 08:00–18:00 and Saturday 08:00–13:00, typically 2 to 3 days after the goods arrive, with a one-year service warranty.
It excludes kitchen-cabinet installation, appliances and moving old furniture. If the manual calls for a wall anchor and you refuse, IKEA will not do the job. Check your lease first.
If the carrier stops at the portería, or your building will not allow it past the lobby, you need a separate helper. Our used furniture delivery guide covers building rules, elevator hours and who pays the acarreo. Colombia Move had 3 active mudanzas listings on 17 October 2026, so the category at /categoria/mudanzas is thin; also ask the portería which local movers the building accepts.
While your delivery date is still days away, buy a mattress and a work setup first; what to buy first when you just arrived has the order.
Returns and warranties before you open the box
Change-of-mind returns run 120 calendar days from receipt, with the receipt, and only if the item is unopened, unused, complete and in original packaging. Assembled or installed items, used textiles, plants, gift cards, performed services and products bought in another country are excluded. The "1-year refund" line on the Cali and Medellín store blurbs conflicts with the policy page; follow the policy page.
Warranties vary by family. IKEA's terms give examples such as 10 to 25 years for sofas and armchairs, 10 years for wardrobes and mattresses, 3 to 10 for bathroom furniture, 10 to 25 for kitchen furniture and taps, and 5 for appliances; the product's own guarantee sets the real term. The kitchen PDF lists METOD at 25 years, ENHET at 10, and IKEA appliances at 5 except LAGAN and TILLREDA at 2, for domestic use with proof of purchase. Statutory consumer guarantees are separate. Keep the receipt, and check the guarantee index on ikea.com/co.
IKEA, a local carpenter, or secondhand?
New flat-pack buys you a receipt, a dated return window and a warranty. Used furniture is faster and already assembled, but it has no IKEA return. A carpenter makes sense when the elevator or the stair rule will not take a box, or the space is awkward. I will not invent price gaps here; get quotes and compare against the cart total including delivery and assembly. For the wider picture, see the apartment furnishing overview.
Before-you-pay checklist
- Measure the elevator, the stair turn and the door frame.
- Choose pickup or delivery; you cannot mix them in one order.
- Read the cart's delivery quote and the assembly coverage list.
- Leave boxes sealed until you know the piece fits.
- Keep the receipt for returns and the warranty PDF.
Frequently Asked Questions
❓ Does IKEA have stores in Bogotá, Cali and Medellín?
Yes, IKEA has a shop in each of those cities. The addresses are Mallplaza NQS at Avenida Carrera 30 #19, Los Mártires (floor 3); Mallplaza Cali at Calle 3 #5-253 (floor 1); and Viva Envigado at Carrera 48 #32 B Sur 139, torre 1, local 235 (floor 2), next to Metro Envigado. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Are website prices the same as in the store?
Yes, IKEA's customer-service page says ikea.com.co prices match the store. Delivery and assembly are not inside that shelf price; they are added and shown in your cart before you pay, so compare the final total. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ How much does IKEA delivery cost in Colombia?
There is no single national fee. The cart quotes a price based on destination city, size, volume, product type and number of packages. Check that quote before paying, and ignore old promotional rates you may find online. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Will the driver carry the sofa in and build it?
No. Delivery excludes assembly and moving goods around inside the home, and without an elevator it reaches only the fifth floor when safe. Assembly is a separate booking from COP 45,990 for one visit in the cities IKEA lists. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Can I return a KALLAX or sofa that does not fit?
Yes, within 120 days of receipt, but only if it is unopened, unused, complete and in original packaging. Once it is assembled, the change-of-mind return no longer applies, so test the fit first. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Can I pay with a foreign card, and use cuotas?
IKEA lists foreign Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Diners credit cards, plus foreign Visa or Mastercard debit with a CVV. Whether Colombian installments appear depends on your issuer, and the 2026 CMR kitchen cuotas offer has ended. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Is store pickup free, and how long do they hold it?
Pickup at the listed points has no fee. After the ready email you have 10 days and need your ID, so arrive well before closing. Hours differ by store, so check the day you go. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
