In Colombia, many sales start and end on WhatsApp. A farm in Santander, an apartment in Medellin, a used motorcycle, a local service or a job opportunity almost always end with the same phrase: write me on WhatsApp. That's why we added WhatsApp registration and login to Colombia Move.

The idea is simple: if the real conversation already happens on WhatsApp, the platform shouldn't force you to start another way. We want publishing to be faster, we want the buyer to have a clear way to contact the seller, and we want each listing to be connected to a practical identity, not to a form that nobody wants to fill out. If you want to see real options right now, you can see farms and lots available on Colombia Move — publishing is completely free.

This change doesn't replace email or Google. It improves them. If you prefer to log in with email or Google, you can keep doing it. But for many sellers in Colombia, especially those who already post in Facebook groups, WhatsApp statuses or direct conversations, the WhatsApp button reduces friction right where it matters most: before publishing.

Why we built it

Colombia Move wants to be the most useful marketplace for Colombia, not another heavy portal that copies flows designed for other countries. In Colombia, the seller often doesn't want to create a long account before knowing if the platform will help them. They want to publish, receive interested buyers and respond quickly.

We also saw a pattern in our own outreach. When we invited property owners, agents, businesses and sellers to publish, almost all of them already left a WhatsApp number in their original listing. That told us something important: WhatsApp is not a secondary channel. It's the trusted channel for coordinating visits, asking for more photos, validating details, negotiating price and moving the next conversation forward.

So the question wasn't whether Colombia Move should support WhatsApp. The question was how to do it without making the process confusing. The answer was to integrate it as a real entry point: you can register with WhatsApp, verify your account and save that number as a contact method for your listings.

How it works to publish

You can start from colombiamove.com/publicar. If you haven't logged in, you'll see the main options to enter: Google, WhatsApp or email. On mobile, the WhatsApp button opens the flow to send a verification message. On desktop, you can scan the QR with your phone and continue from WhatsApp.

After sending the message, you return to Colombia Move to continue. If it's your first time, your account is created. If an account already exists associated with that number, you log in with that account. The goal is that you don't have to invent a new password or copy codes by hand.

The most important part for sellers is this: when you register with WhatsApp, that number becomes available as a contact method in your profile. That way, when you publish a listing, you shouldn't have to write the same number again. The listing can be ready to receive messages where you'll actually answer them.

What the user should do next

If you log in with WhatsApp and don't add email, you can publish and use the platform, but we recommend completing your profile later. Adding a real email helps with account recovery, important notifications and managing your profile if you ever change your number.

You can review and edit your information from your profile. There you can change your visible name, photo, email, contact methods, social links and seller information. You can also connect other channels if you want buyers to contact you through more than one way.

For buyers, the result is more direct. If a listing has WhatsApp as a contact, you can tap the button and write without going through extra steps. If you prefer to use the site's chat, it's also available when the seller allows it. The idea is not to force a single channel, but to make contact clear and fast.

How this sets us apart

Most marketplaces focus only on the listing form. We're building the system around what happens next: who the seller is, how they're contacted, how their store is presented and how their listings can grow on Google with clean, bilingual pages.

Publishing on Colombia Move is free and we don't charge commission for closing a sale. That matters for small sellers, independent agents, farms, local services and businesses that don't want to pay just to test if there's interest. It also matters for buyers, because more sellers can upload inventory and keep it updated.

Also, each seller can have their own storefront. A single link can show multiple listings, contact information, photo, reputation and activity. That means a person doesn't just share a single listing; they share a more organized presence. For real estate agencies, local businesses or people who post multiple things, that difference shows.

We're also building with bilingual search in mind. Colombia has buyers searching in Spanish and foreigners searching in English. The goal is for a relevant search to find relevant results even if the listing language isn't exactly the same. WhatsApp fits into that vision because it reduces the gap between finding something and talking to someone.

More trust without making it complicated

An account connected to WhatsApp doesn't mean every trust problem disappears. No responsible marketplace should promise that. But it does improve several things: the user confirms a real channel, the buyer sees a clear way to contact and the seller doesn't have to repeat their information at each step.

It also helps us better understand which registration methods work. If many users prefer WhatsApp, we can improve that experience. If others prefer Google or email, those paths are still there. What matters is measuring without getting in the way: improving the product, not overwhelming the user with questions.

For security, we still recommend carefully reviewing any business. Don't send money without verifying, ask for clear information, compare photos, use common sense and report strange listings. WhatsApp makes it easier to talk, but trust is built with data, transparency and behavior.

Why this matters for Colombia Move

Our goal is not to be just another bulletin board. We want to be the machine that connects real supply with real demand in Colombia: housing, farms, vehicles, jobs, services, businesses and local opportunities. To get there, publishing has to be easy, listings have to look good and buyers have to be able to contact without wasting time.

Registration with WhatsApp is a piece of that strategy. It makes the first step familiar. It helps more sellers publish. It leaves the contact ready for the listing. And it allows us to build future features around what people already use every day.

It also brings us closer to something that other portals often forget: the seller is not always sitting in front of a computer. Sometimes they are on a farm, at a construction site, showing an apartment, running a business, or answering messages from their phone. The platform must adapt to that reality.

We'll keep adjusting the flow based on what real users do. If something feels slow, confusing, or repetitive, we'll improve it. Colombia deserves a modern, bilingual, and practical marketplace, built around how people actually buy and sell.
