If you have been comparing Genki Native tiers from a laptop in a rented apartment, the question that matters is usually simple: who pays when a crown cracks or you need a colonoscopy screening? The Premium tier is the one that answers that, and its numbers changed with the new conditions, so old blog posts and old PDFs can mislead you.
Short answer: On Genki's conditions version dated 1 September 2026, Native Premium has a combined maximum of €3,500,000 per insurance year (Basic: €1,000,000). Premium adds up to €500 per insurance year for preventive care and up to €3,000 per insurance year for dental care, implants included. Basic has neither benefit. Figures checked against Genki's live pages on 29 September 2026.
What the €3.5 million cap does and does not do
The cap is a combined yearly maximum. Everything Genki pays for you in one insurance year counts toward it, and Genki uses the phrase insurance year, so do not read it as January to December. Your year runs from your own start date.
Three things it does not do. First, it does not lift the sublimits: preventive care and dental still have their own smaller ceilings inside it. Second, the USA is treated separately. Cover there is emergency-only, must begin within 91 days of arrival after at least 91 consecutive days outside the USA, carries a 3-month wait, and is capped at €250,000 on Basic or €500,000 on Premium per insurance year. Canada follows the ordinary country rules unless it is your country of nationality. Third, a big number is not a cashless card. There is no Genki clinic network, and hospital direct billing only happens when emergency assistance arranges it and the hospital agrees.
Deductibles are €0, €500 or €1,000 per insurance year and apply to covered costs other than hospitalization. Genki publishes only one monthly price on the Native product page: Basic at €189 per month for ages 20 to 24 with no deductible. I will not guess a Premium price. It depends on your age and deductible, so it has to come from a live quote.

Preventive care: €500, after a 3-month wait
Premium pays up to €500 per insurance year for preventive care, combined, and nothing in the first 3 months. What counts: routine checkups, eye and ear screenings, cancer screening, colonoscopy, Pap tests, preventive lab work, and listed vaccines such as hepatitis, malaria, rabies, tetanus and yellow fever.
Here is the catch that will annoy people. A blood test ordered because you already feel sick is general care, not preventive care, so it does not touch that €500 pot. That is actually good news, because the general benefit sits under the bigger cap. But it means you should ask your doctor whether a test is a screening or a diagnosis, and keep the invoice wording clear.
My honest take: €500 goes fast if you combine a colonoscopy with vaccines before a jungle trip. Treat it as a yearly checkup budget, not a health-plan replacement.
Dental: €3,000 combined, cleaning €200, implants after 12 months
Premium dental is one combined €3,000 per insurance year. Professional cleaning is a €200 sublimit inside that amount, not extra on top. Covered items are checkups, cleaning, fillings, endodontics, extractions, periodontics, bridges, crowns, dentures, inlays, onlays and implants. Orthodontics and teeth bleaching are not covered.
| Treatment | Premium waiting period |
|---|---|
| Checkups, cleaning, fillings, endodontics, extractions, periodontics | 3 months |
| Bridges, crowns, dentures, inlays, onlays, implants | 12 months |
| Dental treatment after an accident proven by a doctor or police report | No wait |
| Orthodontics, teeth bleaching | Not covered |
There is no general waiting period for emergencies, accidents and illnesses, and the earliest start shown in current help is 7 days after your application is completed. Implants are not a separate fund. An implant and a crown in the same year share the same €3,000.
Do not read this as a promise that a dentist's bill gets paid up to €3,000. Medical necessity, disclosure of prior conditions, your deductible and a regional reasonable-cost limit all still apply. Pre-existing conditions can be excluded, loaded or declined at underwriting.

Using it at a clinic in Colombia
Colombia is not a special country in Genki's conditions. For someone whose nationality is not Colombian, the ordinary full-coverage rule applies, with no country time cap. If you are a Colombian national, Premium has full cover at home with no time limit, while Basic has the 182-days-per-visit rule after at least 91 consecutive days outside.
In practice, a routine dental visit or checkup is pay-then-claim. You pay the provider, gather the documents, and submit. Our clinic claims guide covers the invoice and medical-report packet, so I will not repeat it. To find a private doctor who works in English, start with our list of English-speaking doctors and specialists and book a private consulta particular.
One rule to confirm before an expensive procedure: a Genki help page dated 10 November 2025 says outpatient treatment estimated at €2,000 or more needs an itemized estimate sent to the insurer at least 5 days ahead, or reimbursement of an otherwise covered amount can drop to 50%. That page does not carry the 1 September 2026 banner, so I cannot tell you it applies to your contract. Check your conditions before booking anything large.
Three exclusions matter for people with a dental plan in mind:
- Local insurance: if local law requires local health insurance and you do not have it, costs that local insurance would pay are not covered. Genki also says Native is not a replacement for statutory health insurance required by law. Do not assume it satisfies a visa insurance requirement; check the certificate wording against the requirement you actually have.
- Planned treatment: care that was a reason for coming to the country, or that was already needed or foreseeable before arrival, is not covered. Flying in for planned dentistry is outside the benefit, even on Premium.
- Emergencies first: never delay urgent care while waiting for an insurer email. Sort out the claim afterwards.
If you already hold Native
The 1 September 2026 conditions apply to applications started once that version went live. If your insurance began earlier, your previous conditions stay in force until your next insurance year. Genki then emails you and the new conditions apply automatically.
On that switch, waiting periods you have already served do not restart. Implants are the exception: they are described as newly covered, so they take a fresh 12-month wait from the date the new conditions take effect. That is the practical downside for existing members who were hoping to book an implant next month.
Open the Member Center before you book an implant or a screening and confirm which version your certificate uses. It takes two minutes and avoids a rejected claim.
Who should get a live quote
Premium makes sense if you want dental and preventive care inside one policy and accept the waits. Get a live quote if any of these apply: you are near the age of 55 (you can join only if you are 55 or younger on the start date, but after the contract starts there is no maximum age), you want to compare the €0, €500 and €1,000 deductibles, your nationality is Colombian, or you will travel to the USA. The minimum period is 1 month, then you can cancel monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions
❓ Is Native Premium unlimited?
No. Current public conditions cap Premium at €3,500,000 per insurance year and Basic at €1,000,000. Sublimits for dental and preventive care apply inside that, USA cover has its own lower cap, and older contracts can differ until renewal. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Does Premium pay for dental implants in Colombia?
Yes, on Premium, inside the €3,000 dental maximum and after a 12-month wait, unless an accident waiver applies. Orthodontics and bleaching are excluded, and a planned dental trip can fall under the foreseeable-treatment exclusion. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ How much preventive care is included, and when?
Premium pays up to €500 per insurance year for checkups, screenings and listed vaccines, and nothing during the first 3 months. Tests ordered because you are already sick count as general care, not this €500 pot. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Which dental treatments wait 3 months and which wait 12?
Checkups, cleaning, fillings, root canals, extractions and gum treatment wait 3 months. Crowns, bridges, dentures, inlays, onlays and implants wait 12 months. Dental treatment after an accident proven by a doctor or police report has no wait. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ I already have Native. Do I get €3,000 of dental today?
Only if your certificate is already on the 1 September 2026 conditions. Otherwise your old limits stay until your next insurance year, and implants then start their own 12-month wait. Check the version in your Member Center. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Can Premium replace Colombian statutory health insurance?
No. Genki says Native is not a substitute for statutory cover required by law. If you skip required local insurance, costs that local insurance would have paid are not covered, so check what applies to your situation. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
❓ Do I pay the clinic before Genki pays a cleaning or checkup?
For outpatient care, yes. You pay the provider, then submit a claim. Direct billing is for hospitalization, and only when emergency assistance arranges it and the hospital allows it. There is no Genki clinic network in Colombia. (verify with the official source, as accessed)
