If you offer moving services, hauling, deliveries or driver with your own vehicle, here's how you write a clear ad that attracts serious clients and filters out the curious.

You have a car, motorcycle or truck and people ask you if you "do a move", "deliver a package" or "lend me driver service". The problem is almost never capacity: it's that your ad doesn't say enough, so they write you, ask the price and disappear. After reviewing hundreds of ads, I have it clear: the one who gets good contacts is not the cheapest, it's the most specific.
This guide is for anyone offering moves, hauling, deliveries, messaging or driver service with their own vehicle and wants serious clients instead of empty chats. If you want the general foundation, first check how to offer your professional services in Colombia; here we go into transport and cargo. If you want to see real options right now, you can publish your services free in Colombia Move — publishing is completely free.
What you need to know first
- Define exactly what you offer: move, hauling, delivery, messaging or driver. They're not the same.
- Tell your vehicle, your coverage area and your real availability, without promising what you don't deliver.
- Explain how you charge (per trip, per hour, per distance or with quote) instead of making up a fixed rate.
- With passengers, watch out: public transport of people is not provided in a private car without authorization.
- Publish on a stable listing with its own link, not just in a group that disappears in two days.
First define what service you're going to offer
"I do hauling" is too broad. Get down to earth before publishing, because each service attracts a different client:
- Move or relocation: complete house or apartment, with or without helper for loading and unloading.
- Hauling or one-time freight: carrying one or a few large items (fridge, bed, desk).
- Delivery or messaging: small and quick deliveries within a city or area.
- Driver with vehicle: drive your car for a private and agreed service, not as a taxi or route.
If you mix everything in one ad, half the world writes you and almost no one fits. Better one ad per service type, or at least make explicit what you do and don't do.
Watch out for passenger transport
Here you have to be careful. According to the Ministry of Transport, public transport of people should not be provided in a private vehicle without proper authorization. Translated: don't offer your car as if it were a taxi, school route, intercity transport or passenger tourism.
If you offer "driver", present it as a private and agreed service, leave the scope in writing and confirm what the regulation allows for your case. With cargo, define from the start who is responsible for damage, who does the loading and unloading, and how much waiting time costs. This is not legal advice; if you have doubts, consult with the transport authority in your municipality.

What to put in your ad (and how to charge)
A good ad answers questions before the customer asks them. Include:
- Vehicle and capacity: type (motorcycle, car, truck, van), approximate size and how much fits.
- Coverage area: neighborhoods or cities where you work, and if you make trips outside.
- Availability: days and hours, and if you handle emergencies or only by appointment.
- Loading help: if you go alone or with a helper, and if you go up stairs or only with elevator.
- Real photos: the vehicle, the cargo space, straps or protective cloths.
- What's included and what's not: fuel, tolls, packing, waiting, high floors.
On price, don't make up a fixed rate: every job is different. Explain your charging basis —per trip, per hour, per distance, per volume, with surcharge if there's a helper, stairs or urgency— and send a quote. That way the customer understands the price and you're not stuck with a number that doesn't work for you.
Build trust without giving away your documents
People distrust getting into someone else's car or handing you their things, and for good reason. You don't need to publish your papers. Put your real name, your city and one or two references, show the vehicle in photos and respond quickly by WhatsApp. If a customer wants to verify the vehicle, remind them that in the RUNT you can check data like SOAT and technical-mechanical inspection reported.
Avoid large upfront payments without clear agreement: better define the scope and pay in stages. And if on the day of work the customer changes the route or adds cargo, confirm the extra cost in writing before moving the vehicle. There's more detail in my guide on how to build trust as a seller in Colombia.
Where to publish your service
You have several options and it's good to combine them. Word of mouth and WhatsApp groups in your neighborhood still work very well to start. Mercado Libre Colombia has a Services section that includes Hauling and Moves. With Facebook keep in mind that, according to its own policies, services are not allowed in Marketplace, so you have to rely on groups and not a formal listing.
In Colombia Move you publish free in categories like driver, deliveries or the rest of the services section. As of June 2026 those categories are almost empty, so a well-made ad today stands out on its own, without fighting hundreds of competitors.
Example of an ad that actually works
Copy that structure: it says the vehicle, the area, what it does, how it charges and what's left out. That filters out the curious and leaves you with the client who will actually hire.
Frequently asked questions
❓ How much should I charge for a move or delivery?
There's no fixed national rate: it depends on distance, volume, helper, stairs, waiting and urgency. Explain your charging basis and send a quote with photos before closing; these criteria remain in effect in 2026.
❓ Can I offer a private driver service with my car in Colombia?
Be careful. Passenger transportation in a private car has legal limits, so don't offer it as a taxi or route service. Present it as a private agreed-upon service and confirm what the regulations allow (Ministry of Transport, consulted in June 2026).
❓ Where can I post moving or delivery services for free?
Local WhatsApp groups, word of mouth, Mercado Libre Servicios (includes hauling and moving services) and platforms like Colombia Move, where posting is free. Remember that Facebook policies don't allow services on Marketplace.
❓ What photos should my ad have?
The vehicle from the outside, the cargo space from the inside and your safety equipment. If you're going with a helper, a photo of the team helps. Avoid posting photos of your personal documents.
❓ How do I avoid scams and build trust without giving away my documents?
Put your real name, your city and one or two references, show the vehicle in photos and send a written quote. Don't post photos of your personal documents and avoid large upfront payments without a clear agreement: better define the scope and pay in stages.
If you already have the vehicle and the motivation, what's missing is a clear ad. Write it carefully, put real photos and post where customers will find you. The serious client rewards clarity, not the cheapest price.
