What sells at each flea market in Bogotá, what won't fit in a tent, and how to write a direct listing for appliances, with the warranty explained simply.

Quick answer: in Bogotá, the flea market works for whatever fits on a table and can be displayed; the fridge, the washing machine or the large piece of furniture sell better with an ad that stays visible with photos, price and neighborhood. If you're looking for the guide for the whole country, start with where to sell used things in Colombia; here we stay on the map of the capital.

Parcero, I wouldn't haul a washing machine to Carrera Séptima on a Sunday to see if someone walks by. But I would take an old radio, dishes or a lamp. The key is to separate what goes to the stall and what goes to the ad.

Mercado de las Pulgas de Usaquén

It's located at Carrera 6A between streets 119 and 120A, in the Usaquén locality. According to the market's association and Visit Bogotá (consulted on October 11, 2026), it opens Saturdays, Sundays and public holiday Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The 2022 Alcaldía text only mentioned Sundays and closing at 6:00 p.m., so it is outdated on days and hours. According to Visit Bogotá, entry is free for visitors; I didn't find a published fee for a stall, so ask the association.

What moves there is crafts, vintage objects and small pieces. What's a bad idea to bring: white goods. As a reference for walking to the area, the Centro Comercial Hacienda Santa Bárbara, Carrera 7 #115-60, works, but that shopping center is not the market nor a place to sell used items.

San Alejo, downtown

The Mercado de Pulgas San Alejo is at Carrera 7 #24-70, downtown, diagonally across from the Torre Colpatria. It opens Sundays and public holiday Mondays. With closing time there's a mix-up: the market's page says 5:00 p.m. and the 2022 district article says 5:30 p.m. My advice: confirm the time the same day before going.

It's more a place for antiques and old objects than for modern appliances. I wouldn't sell a fridge through it.

Pasaje Rivas: an artisan contrast

Pasaje Rivas, in La Candelaria (Carrera 10 #10-54), operates from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day according to Portal Bogotá (May 2025). Its described offer is crafts, not used appliances. It's useful for seeing how handmade goods are displayed, not for clearing out a house.

Second-hand shops: confirm at the door

There are shops that buy used items, but I won't give you a name I couldn't verify. Before loading the car, ask three things: hours, whether they buy the type of object you have, and whether they pay cash. A shop usually offers less than a direct buyer, in exchange for speed. That's the drawback: you pay for that convenience with price.

Ad with no commission for what doesn't go to the flea market

Facebook sinks in the feed within hours; your own ad stays as a listing with photos, price and map. According to the Electrodomésticos category on Colombia Move, on October 11, 2026 there were 21 ads, 13 of them marked in Bogotá, and the page presents direct buying and selling without commissions or intermediaries. There is also the option to feature the ad, which is a separate visibility product; I don't publish its price because I didn't verify it. More context on direct contact in free classified ads.

What a listing for an appliance should include (the step-by-step detail is in selling used appliances):

  • Brand and model, with the word "used" next to the title and the price.
  • Whether it works or not, and the defect, stated plainly.
  • Bogotá neighborhood, not the exact address.
  • Who pays the haulage and whether the buyer picks it up.
  • Photos in daylight, from the front, from the side and of the detail of the defect.

The test is done at your home, with the appliance plugged in, and payment on receipt. You set up the WhatsApp contact, so you control who writes to you. Appliances live in the electronics section.

Monday, October 12, 2026

That date is the commemoration that, since Resolution 138 of 2021, is called the Day of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity of the Colombian Nation. Since October 12, 2026 falls on a Monday, the paid rest day is that same day (Law 51 of 1983, according to Función Pública). The published hours for Usaquén and San Alejo include holiday Mondays, so that day falls within their usual calendar, but no one has confirmed it on the pages I reviewed: call or check their social media before going.

Warranty and an honest ad

According to Law 1480 of 2011, whoever habitually sells used goods, as a supplier, can only sell without warranty a product whose legal warranty has already expired if they inform it and the consumer accepts it in writing; otherwise, the term is three months. The public offer must say "used" precisely and conspicuously. If you have a fixed stall, this applies to you.

An occasional sale of your own things is not automatically equated with that of a habitual supplier, but I also can't promise you're exempt. Stating what the appliance has and putting it in writing protects you in both cases. If you're also emptying the house for a move, look at this guide to garage sales when moving.

What to bring and what not to promise

Bring photos taken in daylight, a list of defects and the measurements. Don't promise to sell on the same Sunday: a flea market depends on foot traffic, and an ad on the right buyer finding it. The sensible approach is to combine: the small things to the stall, the large ones to the ad.

Frequently asked questions

❓ Where can I sell used things in Bogotá without paying a platform commission?

In a direct appliance ad, the category page presents sales without commission, and flea markets are the in-person channel. Haulage and a possible stall can cost money, and I didn't find a published rate. Confirm with each market.

❓ What days is the Mercado de las Pulgas de Usaquén open?

Saturdays, Sundays and public holiday Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., according to the association and Visit Bogotá, at Carrera 6A between streets 119 and 120A. The 2022 Alcaldía text fell short on days and closing time (verify with the official source).

❓ Is San Alejo useful for selling a fridge?

It's not the natural channel for white goods: it's a flea market for old objects at Carrera 7 #24-70, on Sundays and holiday Mondays. Confirm the closing time, because the sources say 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. (verify with the official source).

❓ Do I have to give a three-month warranty if I sell used?

That rule from Law 1480 applies to whoever sells as a habitual supplier and did not leave a written record of a sale without warranty. An occasional sale of your own things is not asserted here as the same case; if you have doubts, consult a lawyer (verify with the official source).

❓ How do I sell safely and avoid scams with an appliance?

Post the price, neighborhood, fault and whether the buyer picks it up. Do the test on site, receive payment on delivery and handle the WhatsApp contact yourself. Be wary of anyone who wants to pay or pick up without seeing the appliance (verify with the official source).

❓ How much does it cost to sell at a flea market or in an ad?

Entry to Usaquén is free according to Visit Bogotá, but no stall fee is published in what I reviewed. The appliance category shows no sales commission; featuring the ad is a separate product with no verified price (verify with the official source).

❓ Do Usaquén and San Alejo open on Monday, October 12, 2026?

That Monday is the paid rest day, and both markets list holiday Monday in their usual hours. Since no one has announced that specific date on the pages reviewed, confirm before going (verify with the official source).
